The wisdom present at the creation

“The central and best known doctrine of George Fox is that there is a Light in every man and that this Light is Christ. This belief is based primarily on what was once known as the Quaker text: ‘That was the true Light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world’ (John 1:9). John identifies this Light with the Word of God by which the world was created and which became flesh in Jesus Christ.

This Light existed from eternity and was the creative power, as Fox constantly points out. He sometimes calls it ‘a quickening Spirit.’ Very often he uses the phrase ‘Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God’ (1 Cor. 1:24). This wisdom had been present at the creation… The Light has always been shining into the darkness.”
