    David Ferris (1707–1779) was a Quaker minister and abolitionist. He was born into a Connecticut Congregationalist family and attended Yale with the intention of becoming a minister, but kept stumbling over questions that the established church could not answer to his satisfaction. He became a convinced Quaker and an active member of his meeting in Wilmington, DE.
